JAKARTA (AFP): Canada said Friday there may be further attacks in Indonesia following last weekend's suicide blasts in Bali and warned its nationals against non-essential travel to the country.
"The possibility of further attacks puts Canadians at risk," an advisory said.
"Canadians should exercise caution and maintain a high level of personal security awareness at all times and in all places. As these explosions demonstrate, the security situation can deteriorate rapidly without notice."
Australia Tuesday had also warned of possible new attacks. "Media have reported further general and specific bomb and terrorist threats and anonymous tip-offs in the wake of the October 1 bombings," Australia's foreign affairs department advisory said.
"While this information cannot be corroborated, Australians should be aware that the Seminyak area in Bali has been mentioned as a potential target for terrorist attacks."
The Oct. 1 bombings in crowded restaurants killed 19 people plus the three suicide attackers. Four Australians were killed and 29 injured but there were no Canadian casualties.
"Canadians are reminded that there is an ongoing terrorist threat to Westerners and Western interests in Indonesia," Friday's advisory said. (**)
