THE CEDERAWASIH UNIVERSITY DIRECTOR NEEDS TO STUDY (SEKOLA DULU SEBELUM MENDIDIK ORANG)

Dear Mr Berth Kambu,

I am really glad to see and hear what have you been doing as a University Director in West Papua. As you and I know, the Great people always doing great job for the great purpose. The University that you have been leading is a pioneer university in our unforgettable land, West Papua.

When I was little boy in the village of Paniai, I heard that the Cenderawasih University Students had been taken to the jail, and killed by the colonial power due to the students freedom movement.

I hope you are not stupid enough to see what the colonial have been doing in West Papua towards our people’s life. I hope your long term memory is still functioning and able to recall the history in the past as an ex-student at Cenderawsih university.

I am writing to express to you my disappointment with your irresponsibility towards your students. I have heard that you are using your power as the university director to put the students down and not allowing them to check the internet for the freedom movement purpose at the university’s Lab.

I would like to give you some ideas about how important it is for university students to take a role to help the nation from the leadership crisis, freedom movement, asking equality, Justice, truth, etc.

Looking back at the university students movement around the world, you will find how important it is for students to be in the front line and helping the nations.

Have you been in Johannesburg the capital city of South Africa? Have you heard anything about Nelson Mandela? Let me give you some ideas. Nelson Mandela was a university student at the black university in South Africa, as a young man in 1940’s he had to fight and lead the black students freedom movement to help their people from apathy, he was put in the jail for about 27 years, but eventually he won the game.

Have you been in Lima the capital city of Peru? Because of the universities students movement, their dictator leader fell down from the dictator power leadership.

Have you been in Jakarta the capital city of Indonesia? Have you heard anything about tragedy Tri-sakti and Suharto in 1997? Suharto, because of the student’s movement was relieved of his dictator leadership power. I hope you are not going to become a dictator leader in this century like Mr Suharto did.

Time to become a dictator leader is already gone. I hope you can respect human dignity, and understand the meaning of the democracy. So if you are someone who regularly thinks about how things will be different when you are in charge, think again.

Your remarks were ill advised and resulted in bad judgment. I would like to urge you to re-evaluate your commitment in terms of the human resources development in West Papua as a University Director.

The people of Papua and I will keep you in our prayers, and may the Lord Bless You

Best Regards

Meki Nawipa
Student
